The U, the U.K. and Australia are the only developed countries in the world to have neither bookstores nor supermarkets.
It’s a shocking finding that even a country like the U., a world leader in publishing and one of the wealthiest countries in history, has a book industry that is so small and poorly funded that it barely registers in national statistics.
But it’s also a big part of why U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has said the world is “on the cusp of a new book age.”
It may not be a great time to be a bookseller, but it’s an era in which books can be cheap and accessible to anyone, from young readers to the elderly.
And with the rise of e-book publishing, it may be the perfect time for publishers to launch new kinds of bookstores.
Books have become increasingly popular in the U to be read on a tablet, smartphone, smart device or a PC, says Sarah Binder, author of The Books We Read in the Digital Age: How Books Shape Our Lives.
“But bookstores have always been important in the book world,” she says.
The books you buy are often cheaper and more accessible than those you buy online, too. “
It’s a good time to buy books.”

The U is home to some of the most expensive e-books in the US, according to Nielsen BookScan, a company that tracks e-reader sales.
In its 2017 annual report, Nielsen reported that the U was No. 2 to Canada in terms of average ebook price, behind the US.
“We’ve had a lot of ebooks for the past few years, and now there’s more than one of every two books sold in the United States,” says Binder.
The average price of a Kindle book is $3.99.” “

While books are becoming more popular online, the demand for physical books is declining, says Binders.
And as the market grows for digital books, so does the demand from traditional booksellers. “
So the demand is going down.”

Books can now be downloaded and stored for as little as a few cents per day, says Jennifer Beattie, founder of the book-reading app Amazon Kindle.
And online books have become the norm, even for those who are traditional book lovers.
“The digital book market is growing rapidly,” says Beatties book-selling platform.
“Now, with the advent of eBooks, they’re becoming more common and easier to access, even to those who would never consider buying a physical copy.” “
Amazon’s Kindle e-readers are the best of both worlds, says BeATTIE. “

Amazon’s Kindle e-readers are the best of both worlds, says BeATTIE.
They are cheap and easily available.
And the best part?
You don’t have to be an Amazon Prime member to enjoy them.
They’re also more affordable than paper books, which are becoming increasingly difficult to find.
The Kindle Paperwhite, a $199 e-reading device, has become a staple for Amazon Prime members.
Amazon also sells a Kindle Fire tablet, which is also a great way to stream e-content for a few bucks a day.
The Amazon Kindle Fire HD, which starts at $129.99, is a great option for people who want to get into e-literature but don’t want to spend a lot on a physical hardback.
Amazon has a Kindle store for $19.99 a year, so you can also grab a Kindle PaperWhite for $99.99.
Binder says there are still a lot fewer traditional bookstores in the country than there were in 1950.
“What’s changed is that the people who have traditionally been books lovers are now becoming people who buy eBooks as a way to learn about the world,” says Smith.
“They’re not bookworms who want the latest literary theory or a history lesson.
They just want books to help them understand things that are happening now.”
A few decades ago, when it was easier to buy a book in bookstores, many booksellors still relied on sales of physical books.
But that is changing, too, as more people buy digital books.
Books are now a major part of the digital book
