The New Haven, Connecticut, Public Library is opening a new bookstore, a new home for the state’s oldest bookstore, the Mardel Church of the Good Shepherd, and a new space for its bookmobile, the News & Papers Bookmobile.
The new bookstore will be located on the second floor of the Marden Church of The Good Shepherd in the former Church of Christ on Main building.
The store will be open Monday through Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Friday from 11 a..m to 7 p.ms.
The store will have an outdoor seating area, a dining room and two separate bookcases.
The Mardes have been in New York since the 1800s.
The church is a nonprofit church that was established in 1882, according to the news release.
The bookmobile will be the store’s third location in New England, according the news report.
It opened in the Connecticut town of Wethersfield in 2018.
The library will be able to expand its holdings and staff.
In 2017, the library opened a second bookstore in the heart of Hartford.
