— It may be a new school, but Georgia Southern is already making changes to the way it uses textbooks.
AUSTIN, Texas — A new book store at the University of Texas at Austin will be opened later this month.
The new store is the first bookstore for the university’s College of Business, Business Education and Economics.
Its co-owner, former U.S. senator Ron Johnson, said the store, which is expected to open by August, will give students more options when it comes to reading materials.
Students who want to take a book out for a test or a workshop, he said, can do so at the bookstore.
“They can come in and go to the bookstore and have a little book and have it delivered right to their room,” Johnson said.
Johnson and the company that runs the new bookstore also are working to open a new online resource center that will allow students to access their textbooks online.
He said they plan to open the center in the coming months.
One of the changes that the bookstore will bring to the classroom is that it will be more open to all ages.
It will also be able to offer new materials, Johnson said, which includes more books from outside the school’s traditional library.
As part of the change, Johnson plans to open up a new section of the bookstore called “The Book Club.”
“I think it’s going to be a lot more fun to read than we’ve ever been able to,” he said.
